I often get asked the question, “Where do you work?” And when I say I’m an intern at Olsson Associates, I immediately have to clarify – yes, I do work at an engineering firm but no, I am not an engineering student. Believe it or not, there aren’t just engineering internships here! There are great opportunities for business students as well!
Hi all! My name is Makenna Kreikemeier, and I am a student intern on the Human Resources (HR) team. I currently attend school at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL), majoring in Business Administration. It is my final year at UNL and I’m having a hard time figuring out where the time has gone! I started at Olsson after my freshman year of college and have been here ever since.
My first year at UNL consisted mostly of general prerequisite courses; however, I squeezed in a few management classes that sparked my interest in HR. When I first heard about this internship, I was a bit hesitant to apply because I just finished my first year of college. I thought I was too young to be considered for the position. Well, I am here to tell you that it is never too early to start exploring internships! When I first began at Olsson, I would have never imagined how great an impact this internship would have on my college career. It is amazing how many times I have been able to apply my experiences here at Olsson to what I am learning in the classroom, which makes learning so much more enjoyable for me.
I am always so proud to say I work at Olsson Associates and I’m grateful for the opportunities this internship has brought me thus far. I have experienced things I never thought I’d get to experience as a student, and I have had the opportunity to work with and learn from so many hardworking and talented individuals.
I am so excited to share my experiences with you over these next several months!
